It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Zenon Kramar on January 10, 2013 in his 95th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna (1989). Devoted father (Tato) of Orysia (Michael Keir), Myron (Shelley Rempel) and Diane (Paul Bihun). Proud grandfather (Dido) of David (Lauren), Daniel, Alysha (Yves Benoit), Sarah (Brayden Ozimok), Jenna, Lucas, and Annie. Loving great-grandfather of his beautiful Kaylee. Zenon will also be missed by his devoted caregiver Tetyana, who cared for him like another daughter, and we thank her for all her support. Zenon is a survivor of Buchenwald, which gave him great tenacity, tremendous religious conviction and appreciation of life, and inspired him to social consciousness and community involvement. He was a 32 year employee of Stelco as a Mechanical Foreman where he was known to his friends as Jimmy. He was active in political endevours as a proud Canadian, and he worked diligently for his beloved Ukrainian community. Zenon was a very loving, happy, kind and gentle soul. His memory will live on in each of his children and grandchildren with what we have learned from him over the years. His dedication to his church, his Ukrainian Heritage, and to his community, work and faith, has shown us the importance of values and tradition. His tremendous love for us has blessed us with the gift of family strength and unity, and his determination and hope has inspired us to believe that we can rise above any challenge. He will forever be our hero and our hope to never stop believing. Visitation will be held at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with Panachyda at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Ressurection, 821 Upper Wentworth, on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 10:30am. Interment St. Volodymyr Cemetery. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Leggett and his staff for years of wonderful care, and to Macassa Lodge, to Dr. Khera, with special mention to Phyllis Kokoski and Wendy Guest for their outstanding care and support to us as a family, and to those special staff of C3W who provided Zenon with compassion and dignity to the very end. In lieu of flowers, please give to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or any charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.markeydermody.com
