

Alvah H. Jarvis Jr. 85, passed away on Monday, August 25th, 2025, in Barhamsville, Virginia. Al was born on April 21, 1940, in Portsmouth Virginia and grew up in Portsmouth. He was the son of Alvah H. and Hazel Jarvis.
He is survived by his son, Karl J. and wife, Geucileia (Leia) Jarvis; and four daughters, Monika E. and husband Richard Cassell, Jaqueline D. Jarvis, Jennifer M. Page, and Carolyn N. and husband Derek Walls. His grandchildren; Karl Jr. and wife Jennifer, Jessica, Kylie, Chloe, Emily, Michael and Wyatt. His great-grandchildren Mathew, William, Luke, Elizabeth, Lorenzo, Gabriela and Silas who will arrive in December.
Al was also survived by the second love of his life, his wife Isabel D. Jarvis, who brought joy and happiness back into his life and gave him a reason to live again. She has been a blessing to him and has been a true gift.
Also surviving Al are his brother, Jimmy and Cheryl Jarvis and his sister in-laws Vroni (Fruney) and Magarete both living in Germany.
Al was also a Vietnam War veteran. Al Joined the United State Air Force in 1958 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1981, having served as a firefighter and Protection Specialist. After he retired from the Air Force he worked at the Norfolk International Airport as a firefighter for just over a year. He then moved a Civil Service job at Ft Eustis Fire Department where he worked as a firefighter for an additional six months or so. He finally retired from Langley Air Force Base Fire Department as the Fire Prevention Chief from 1983 to 2002 having served an additional 19 years in the federal government.

The family will receive friends for a Visitation from 6:00PM-8:00PM, on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. 23666. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, September 5, 2025 in the Chapel at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. 23666, officiated by Deacon Reaves. The committal with military honors will follow the services at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. 23666.
