Bernard Christopher Smith Jr.

MSGT Bernard C. Smith, Jr., 83, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was born October 8, 1930 in Bronx, New York and was a resident of Hampton for 47 years. He retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 22 years. Bernard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Bernard is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard C. and Katherine Taylor Smith. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude Wilman Smith; children, Peggy Farr-Gaskins (Jim), Susan Perry, Bernard Smith, III (Laura), Rosemarie Pulvino (John); nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens with honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
