Bernice Davis Ownbey

Bernice Ownbey, 85, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina and was a resident of Hampton for 60 years. Bernice worked for the Hampton city schools. She was a former member of Buckroe United Methodist Church.
Bernice was preceded in rest by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence Ownbey, Jr.; her parents; and sister, Hazel Rhoades. She is survived by her sons, Michael and Danny; daughters-in-law, Sandy and Sandra; grandchildren, Allison, Andrew, Ashley, and April; and great-grandchildren, Savannah, Gage, Caylee, Jessi, and Allie.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, with a celebration of Bernice’s life to follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A private interment will be in Asheville, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
