Brenda Sue St. Amand, 58, departed from her earthly cocoon on May 11, 2024, to explore the world with the butterflies she loved. Born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to the late Leroy and Janet Garner, she moved to Hampton Roads in 1984. Brenda joined the Newport News Shipbuilding family as a Machinist Apprentice in 1988 and eventually entered Design Engineering to work on Nimitz Class aircraft carriers and Los Angeles, Virginia, and Columbia Class submarines throughout her 35-year career.
Making time for fun, Brenda enjoyed softball, bowling, traveling, and shopping. She married Paul in 2004 and began to explore exotic locations, including the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Central America and Hawaii. In the downtime between trips, she enjoyed spending time with close friends from her softball teams and social groups.
