

Conard Lee "Buddy" Chapman, 81, entered eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. He was born on July 25, 1930 to the late Oscar and Melba Chapman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Clara Sutz; and brother-in-law, Gus Moore.
Buddy was a native of Delbarton, West Virginia and was a resident of Hampton for over 40 years. He was a member of Keep the Promise Worship Center in Poquoson.
Buddy was a veteran of the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Korean Conflict. Upon retiring as a SMSGT from the Air Force, he continued his career at NASA as an experimental facilities mechanic and pneumatics specialist.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth Chapman; daughter, Donna Witt and her husband, Mark of Fayetteville, NC; son, Buddy Chapman and his wife, Denise of Poquoson; grandchildren, Matthew French, Thomas Guglielmo, Savannah Witt, and Jesse Chapman; sisters, Billie Moore, and Pearlene Bush and her husband, Robert, all of Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank the Keep the Promise Worship Center Church family for their love and support during this difficult time. They also wish to give thanks to Conard's doctors and nurses, especially to Imani and the Heartland Hospice staff.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Conard's life will be held on Friday, August 26 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, officiated by his son, Pastor Buddy Chapman. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
