She was preceded in death by her parents George Amend and Diane Snell Amend and her brother George J. Amend.
She is survived by her son Gary Rosenthal (Diane), daughter Amy Janicke, two grandchildren Chrystal and Brandon (Kayleigh), great grandchildren Brooklyn, Colton, Cayden and Asher, sister Joanie Saleska, and several nieces and nephews.
Diana loved to walk any nature trail, finding peace and perspective in the quiet beauty of the outdoors. A dedicated employee of the federal government, she retired at age 60, closing one chapter of service while opening many more. In her early retirement days, she could often be found at the local library, patiently tutoring young adults. As the years passed, she filled her days with creative pursuits—dabbling in art, experimenting with sewing projects, and delighting in making something beautiful with her hands. No day was complete without her daily crossword puzzle, a ritual she approached with determination and quiet satisfaction. Whether exploring a wooded path or stitching together a new creation at her little table, she lived with curiosity, generosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Her final wishes were for the family to come together in a private setting to scatter her ashes and honor her memory, which will occur at a later date.
