Don was a great youth advisor and a true brother.  He particpated in my raising as a Master Mason and was a kind man.  We wil all miss his kind works and the dedication he showed to our youth.

"Daddy" Don was a fabulous Virginia Rainbow "Dad".  He loved the Order, and cared much about the success and wellbeing of the Assemblies and Girls.  And best of all, he had a great sense of humor which I particularly enjoyed.

Always remembered as a man of great stature and some one who you could count on to do the right thing no matter the consequences or out come. A Man you could take at his word and the caring soul who made a lot of things happen for those less fortunate. I will always remember him as a true friend and leader.

Our hearts and our prayers go out to Don and his family.  Wish we could have been with everybody today.  Christina was saddened to hear the news of his passing as were both myself and Bo. It was through Don's work with the Rainbow Girls that I was privileged to know him.  He was serving on the Advisory Board of Hampton Assembly and I was a Grand Officer when I met him at a South Carolina/Virginia Grand Assembly Session. Though I would receive many honors in our Order, Don always referred to me as Past Grand Hope, a term of endearment that I always appreciated.  In the mid-eighties, we were appointed Grand Deputies by our Edna D. McLaurin and enjoyed working together to improve our Assemblies.  When I became Supreme Deputy in South Carolina, he gave me excellent advice concerning our organizational structure and finances.  He continued his support of South Carolina Rainbow, financially and with his presence at our Grand Assembly Sessions.  Over the years I have admired him for his support of the Rainbow Girls, serving as Rainbow Dad and second father to many girls.  He never tired of telling me about the girls who married and the births of their children.  Like a proud papa, he always wanted the best for our Order and its girls...a member of an elite group who have enshrined themselves in our hearts: Steve Krossber, Bob Patterson, Omar White, Jack Armstrong, and others.  I can only imagine the reunion that they are enjoying at this moment.  However, Don is not quite gone from we who remain...he is simply somewhere over the rainbow.  Blest be the tie that binds.

I can't remember the first time I met Daddy Don, he just was always a part of my Rainbow life. Always a hug and a smile.  Such a wonderful precious man with a twinkle in his eye.  Daddy Don I will always be your clown!!!  I love you dearly!!  My thoughts and prayers to the family thank you for sharing this special man with us!  He will be so very missed.

I have known Don for many yrs and some of my fondest memories were during his time with rainbow. I will sorely miss him and i will always keep him and his family close to my heart and in my prayers. God bless you Don. You were the best.

I first met Don at Fort Monroe when I joined the HQ TRADOC staff in 1979 as a civilian employee following my retirement from Army active duty.  Don was still awaiting his uniformed service retirement. We quickly recognized each other as Masonic brothers and maintained a close friendship throughout the years.  We looked forward to our Thursday lunches at the old Fuller's restaurant and later at Tommy's right up to Don's final days.  Don was the most dedicated Mason I have ever known.  Have a good trip, old friend.  Time now for you to go home and join the Great Architect.

Don was a giant gentleman who added his personality to a baseball league for over 30 years. All of the other members respected Don's baseball knowledge and knew his affection for his beloved "Cubbies". Don earned the respect and friendship of everyone he came into contact with. He will be missed greatly.

I remember meeting Daddy Don the day that I was initiated into Rainbow - March 28, 1987.  I had no idea when I met him how much he would come to mean to me.  He always had a hug and a smile for everyone, whenever he entered the room.  He was so loving and supportive to all of his Rainbow girls...he was OUR Daddy Don!  My thoughts, prayers and blessings go out to the family.  I thank you for sharing such a special man with me.  I feel honored and blessed to have known him and to have called him my friend.  May God be with your family during this time!

When you talk about masonary and the rainbow girls. WB Don comes to mind immediately. I was Don's senior warden in 1983 and had the utmost please in working with a very pleasant and knowledgeable person. I am deeply saddened at his untimely passing, and not only masonry, but the community lost a great asset.
