Douglas McArthur Seals Jr. (Doug, aka Dougie Fresh) 56, of Hampton, Va. Douglas gracefully entered the Kingdom with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday March 5, 2025, after a courageous battle surrounded by his family.
Born June 25th, 1968, in Hampton, Va, he was the son of the late Douglas McArthur Seals Sr. and is survived by his mother Nan L. Seals. Doug was a graduate of Kecoughtan High School class of 1986 which is where his love for football started.
As the years passed, his love for sports continued as he watched his children thrive playing baseball, soccer, and softball at all levels, he never missed a game. Doug was an avid Alabama football fan (Roll Tide). In his spare time, he spent hours at the Fort Monroe YMCA enjoying his workouts and the many friends he made there. Doug never met a stranger and embraced people daily. He also enjoyed working out at Gosnold’s Hope Park where he and his oldest grandson spent a lot of time. Doug always said, “there was nothing like working out, outside”. Doug also enjoyed his “FL” weekend getaways in OBX and grilling out at any campground with family and friends.
While all of these things were very important to him, Doug’s very greatest joy was his love for his children, his grandchildren and his family. Doug’s legacy will live on through his three children, Cody Seals (Alex), Teighlor Seals and Skyeler (Seals) Hunter (Michael) and five grandchildren, Brayden Seals, Landon Seals, Brackstyn Hunter, Mason Seals and Chance Katke-Seals. Doug is also survived by his sister, Sherri Hassell (Donald) and brother Joey Seals, nephew Edward VanEs Jr. (Amanda), nieces Erica VanEs, Elizabeth VanEs, Kelsey Seals (Evan), Baylee Seals (Joost), Basil Hassell and great nephews Trey VanEs, Edison VanEs and Ellis VanEs. He had extended family Edward VanEs Sr., Danielle Faison and Jordan Keller-Autry, also Evelyn, Terry and Troy Anderson who were very special to him. He also leaves behind many cousins. Doug had a very special place in his heart for the family fur babies Fitz, Banks, Bruce, Lucy and the late Zoey and NalaBean.
The family would like to give special thanks to Riverside Cancer Center in Newport News Va. for taking such amazing care of Doug over the last year. The friendships and care provided meant the world to “Dougie Fresh” and he referred to you all as his angels. The family would also like to thank Bristol Hospice of Virginia Beach, (Denise was Doug’s special angel) for helping us in Doug’s last moments.
A celebration of life will be held March 15,2025 at 2:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, Va 23666. Prior to the Celebration there will be a visitation at 1:00 PM
