

Estelle Hill Thomas Milsap was born on 16 March 1929, in Pike County, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents Exa Fountain of Troy Alabama and James D. Hill of Goshen, Alabama her brother James D. Hill Jr., sister Doreen Hill-Rucker, grandson Tyrone J. Thomas II and her husband John W. Thomas Jr. She is survived by her three children Tyrone J. Thomas, Bonita R. Chapman (née Thomas) and Michael K. Thomas; her 7 grandchildren Kwanda L. Tucker, Adia G. Ware, Nicole O. Thomas, Ashley B. Torres Avila, Duane E. Chapman and Adrian G. Chapman, she also had 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson Amari J. Poole. She is also survived by 1 niece and 2 nephews.
Stella, spent her younger years in Alabama, before moving to Detroit and then to Pennsylvania, where she married her childhood sweetheart John W. Thomas Jr.. She worked in various jobs in Philadelphia before starting as a GS-3 Civil Servant for the US Government culminating as a GS-11, Budget Analyst; during this time, she completed her Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia at the age of 52 and continued working until her retirement in 1989, while living in New Jersey. She moved to Virginia in 2015 where she lived until her passing.
Her favorite thing was, “to learn something new every day” and was proud of her amazing ability to use the internet, YouTube, IPhone, her Kindle and even banked online up until her last days.
Stella a fashionista, was an avid reader and mostly loved reading her bible, she liked to do puzzles and Sudoku. She also liked writing about her life’s events and loved writing poetry; but most of all she loved her family and that was most visible as she attended family reunions or just talked with her cousins on the phone; she loved to watch videos of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren or her only Great-Great Grandson Amari.
A Visitation for Estelle will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
