Estelle Mabe Nunn, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Born January 19, 1931 in Stokes County, NC the daughter of Noah Cornelius and Annie Smith Mabe, she was a resident of Hampton, Virginia for over 60 years. She retired from J.C. Penney’s in 1999 and spent her retirement gardening, watching as she put it “Andy from Maybery” and chasing after little pomeranians.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Folger (Bud) Nunn; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and James O' Shields; Her twin brother Braswell Mabe; brothers Ralph Cornelius Mabe, Coleman Abraham Mabe; sisters, Ida Ruth Mabe Jessup, Neva Mabe Wilson.
She is survived by her grandson Matthew O’Shields (Jennifer) and great-granddaughter Haydee.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28th, 2026 at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM for a Visitation. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 1:00PM at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton.
