Floyd Cagle, 85, known as Doc to friends and family passed away December 6, 2018. He was born in Del Rio, Tennessee to Jack and Luarria Cagle on December 25, 1932. Doc served in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957. He settled in Hampton, Virginia in 1959 and started his career as an X18 welder for the Newport News Shipyard. Doc retired in November 1992 after 33 years of service.
Doc was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth Cagle; his mother and father, Jack and Luarria Cagle; his brother, Furman Cagle; and his beloved brother-in-law, Tom Scott.
He is survived by his sisters, Georgia Scott, and Gerlina Dugger (Aubrey); his brother, Jerry (Cheryl); his daughter, Susan Sanders (David); grandchildren, Stacy Watkins (George), Robert Watkins, John Sanders, and Shannon Sanders (James); great-grandchildren, Ashley Campbell (Scott), Andrew Moore, Alayna Watkins, and Mason McGavran; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Doc was an avid hunter and spent many days hunting with his best friend Bobby; his son-in-law, David; his grandson, John and his great-grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew. He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home 2551 N. Armistead Ave Hampton, VA 23666.
