

Mr. Francis “Frank” Edwin Hayhurst passed away on December 14, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on January 11, 1928 to the late Eli and Elizabeth Edna Hayhurst and has resided in Hampton since 1969.
Frank retired from the U.S. Army after twenty-one years of service and proudly served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his Army retirement, he had a second career with the City of Hampton. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman and he especially enjoyed family get-togethers as well as sporting events. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by family and friends.
Frank is survived by his wife, Linda; five children, Arthur (Susan) Hayhurst, Elizabeth (Derek) Breckenridge, Deborah (William) Stanley, Patricia (Peter) Price, and Robert Hayhurst; six grandchildren, Shaun Hayhurst, Aaron Hayhurst, Eric Hayhurst, Tamara Cunningham, Christopher (Tiffany) France, and Amy (Shane) Call; five great-grandchildren, Madelyn Cunningham, Grant Cunningham, Payton France, Chloe France, and Sophia Call; two brothers, Kenneth and Eli Hayhurst; two sisters, Naomi Lake and Kathryn Evans; and aunt, Geraldine Garlow.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, the family will receive friends with a reception at the funeral home.
