

She was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church in Yorktown and drove a school bus for Newport News Public Schools for 9 years.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Elwin Jake Eacker, three brothers, and a sister. She is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Vanderveer (David) and Deborah E. Miller (Ted); son, Jesse W. Kochersperger, Jr. (Sandy); six grandchildren, David, Christopher, Wende, Amy, Ray, Kyle; eleven great-grandchildren, Krystal, Dylan, Dakota, Seth, Angel, Jacob, Jillian, Corbin, Will, Cameryn, Ashley; two brothers, Buck Abbott (Thelma) and Gerald Abbott; two sisters, Ella Edwards and Susie Kelly.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Gertrude's life will be held 9:00 am, Friday, July 19, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
