Gordon L. Hoyle, 79, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2020.
Gordon was born in Alliance Ohio to Lucy and Lawrence Hoyle. After serving in the United States Army, Gordon moved to Hampton Va and retired after 30 years from Newport News Shipbuilding.
Gordon (Papa) was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was very devoted to his miniature schnauzer Riley, who undoubtedly was his best friend and companion. Papa had a wittiness about him that he displayed during interactions with EVERYONE, everywhere he went. He really enjoyed making people laugh and smile. He loved his “daily walkabouts”, family dinners out, and his humorous t-shirts {his favorite said “Of course your opinion matters, just not to me”}, and don’t even think about interrupting his favorite TV show “Ancient Aliens”. He never missed sending a “good morning” and “good night love you” text to his two daughters and his nightly 8 o’clock chit-chat with his loving sister Joyce Courtney.
Papa was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Hoyle. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Fama and Stacey Hammonds; and a son, John Karash. He is also survived by three grandchildren Ben, Mackenzie, and Cody, all of whom he was so proud of and treasured.
There is no doubt Papa is in heaven making people laugh, smiling down on his loved ones, wearing a funny t-shirt, and making sure the TV is tuned into “Ancient Aliens.
Rest in peace Papa, You will be missed so much. XOXO
