A year has passed and not a day went by without my having thought about you.  There were Christmas, New Year's Eve, Valentines and Easter which all brought back memories; some beautiful, some funny, some silly and some not, but I'll hold onto those memories and go back to the "happy place" when I find myself missing you or feeling lonely. The most special memories were not at holiday time, but just regular Mondays, Tuesdays etc.  It's nice to share some memories with family, but also nice knowing that there are some that will just stay tucked away for those times I need to pull one out.  They say time heals but they don't say how much time it takes to heal when you've lost your best friend....

Dear Steve, Venessa and entire Baudanza family,
Bill and I send our deepest sympathy and prayers for your family at your time of sorrow.
It was such a pleasure meeting Greg even though it was only once and was at a time when he needed me as a nurse but I was blessed by his upbeat personality, his joking and teasing with a neighbor he had never met. Even though he was in pain at times, he was a joy to be around. 
Steve and Venessa, know that you did a wonderful, kind and loving gesture by having him in your home and taking such loving care of him. I know you will miss him Steve, but may you be comforted by what I have read here about his knowing Jesus and now being with Him. We do have that hope if we believe in our Lord. You will see him again...

I will miss you and remember you forever. I would not be here today if it wasn't for your guidance and love for me.  You were like a father to me and were there when no one else was. You never judged me and never gave up on me.  We had some rough times at that house and I'm glad you finally made it to VA to your family.  But we had some good times too. You and I were a good team. You said you were proud of me. I will do my best to make sure that, as you watch over me, I will be good, kind and help others, so you will always be proud; that is my promise to you. I am going to do something good with my life because I want to and because I want to honor you.

I'm so thankful to have known Greg and honored to be his daughter in love! Greg always made me feel welcome.
Greg, Thank you for your love! Thank you for your encouragement through the years.  I'm going to miss talking to you. And I'm going to miss telling on Gabe!
There are two things that you've told me over the years that I hold dear.  You told me to make sure Gabe knows that I believe in him. I do, Greg, I belive in your son.  Thank you for believing in him and for loving him with such passion!
You also told me that whenever Gabe misses you to remind him that you'd always say, “I'm just down the road.” Thank you for those words! I will always remind Gabe and your grandbabies that you are right down the road.   
We will see you soon dad! And when we do, what rejoicing there will be! I love you so much Greg! Your love for Jesus and people lives on in your son, Gabe. Machaela is an encourager just like you! Isaiah shares your love for the Lord. Elliot is wild and charismatic just like his grandpa and Evan shares your sweetness! I'll be sure they all know where they get these characteristics.

Greg thanks for being here at the lowest point in my life. You let me talk about anything without judgement. I still remember your wise words. Rest in Peace with God and His Angels.

I never really got to know you very well Greg, but the few times we did talk, I really enjoyed. I'm sure you're now rejoicing in God's magnificent presence.

I remember so many things about Greg, man that was a time in my life where I learned so much. Sometimes I didn't understand his zeal and fervor, but as I grow older I surely do. I can recall one time going to the Alano club with Gabe and my brother Josh and Kevin, and seeing him get down dancing and having fun. That was a freedom I was witnessing, a spark he had that had been snuffed previously. I think of that memory and others very often and know he was one of kind and cut from a different cloth. He is now experiencing another kind of freedom and I am sure getting down again! You will be missed and have given me everlasting memories!

Dad...I miss you so much... I miss your words of encouragement... I could talk to you about anything... Thank you for not giving up on me... I praise God that you knew Jesus and are now fully united with him in peace... You're not suffering anymore but are rejoicing with the Lion of Judah...

God brought us together in 1977 and we shared so much. God brought us together again in 2010 and again, we shared so much. Both times He brought us to each other, the timing was not ideal, but we always made time and allowed the other into our life. I'm so glad. You were my best friend, my confidant, my advisor and more; as I was happy to be for you also.

The photo I chose is from the park we used to go to many years ago. I'm so I always saved it and it's comforting knowing you called it your "happy place" and you went there whenever your recent pain was hard to handle.

I will always be greatful to God for allowing us to come together again and I know He will bring us together one more time. 

I won't say I will miss you because I will always carry you in that special place in my heart...  As you always told me... "I know Joey, I know"...  Well, I will finally say, "You did know Greg, you did".

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

Gregory, I will miss you.  You and froggy are going to heaven together.  He was your best friend from March 28 to June 30, 2012.  May you both rest in peace.
