

Helen Ernestine Mombaerts, 78, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012. She was born on March 30, 1934 to the late Harry E. Reed and Josephine Geyer in Fort Monroe, Virginia. She served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. She was a life member of the Marine Corps League and the American Legion Post 83 in Mathews, Virginia. Helen continued her career as a registered nurse in the long-term care industry and retired after 37 years of service.
Helen is survived by her son, Gerard Mombaerts and wife, Carmela; daughters, Paula Rae Mombaerts, and Madeleine M. Hall and fiancé William Czaja; grandchildren, Austyn Mombaerts, Madeleine Mombaerts, James D. Hall and wife, Erica, Jesse R. Hall and wife, Pei-Ju; great-grandchild, Isabelle Rae Hall arriving shortly; best friend, Bettye Owens and family; brothers, Arnold, Chuck, and David; sister, Josephine.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Beulah Methodist Church, in Mathews. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Beulah Methodist Church or the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad.
