Obituary of Iberia H. Keirsey
Iberia "Ann" Hobbs Keirsey, age 90, passed away September 9, 2020 in Smithfield, VA. Ann was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia. She was a graduate of Hampton High School in 1947. She entered the workforce with Blue Cross and later went to Teledyne Hastings Instrumentals just ahead of heading west to California. In California, Ann pursued a career and retired from BellSouth/Verizon. She was an active member in Christ Episcapal Church. She had an eye for art and left a lasting legacy of many beautiful paintings she has made through the years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and knitting. Ann had a passion for doing for others. She’s preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Bernice Hobbs, the love of her life, her husband, Walter Keirsey and sister, Mildred Gilmartin. She is survived by her brother, Vernon Hobbs Sr. and wife, Jane; brother-in-law, Joseph Gilmartin and wife, Carol; four nieces, Teresa Wydra and her husband, Jay, Carol Hobbs, Lisa Malla and her husband, Rick, Christie Sorenson and her husband, Stacy; nephews, Hank Guilford and his wife, Michele, Vernon Hobbs Jr. and his wife, Karen; daughter, Jill Keirsey Waldon her husband, Scott; sons, Mark Keisey, Walter Keirsey Ⅳ; cousins, Felix Shepard his wife, Dorothy, Glenn Shepard, Sandy Furches and her husband, John, Bob Bowers his wife, Linda, George Coleman his wife, Barbara; numerous great-nephews and nieces to include, GJ, Aaron, Dusty, Sean, Joshua, Kaylea, Alan, Nicholas, Skyler, Ayden, and Ashley; and great-great-niece and nephews, Hazel, Kael, Kinsleigh and Bentley; grandchildren, Carly, Samantha, Josh, Sean, Kyle, Ian, Allison and Bernadette: She also leaves many more family and friends behind. The family will receive those coming to the viewing at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the funeral home with Derek Pringle officiating. lnterment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Please take note our family is asking all in attendance on September 15 & 16, 2020 to celebrate Ann’s life; follow COVID Safety guidance to include: No more than 50 guests in attendance for each event inside or out (contact Vernon Hobbs Sr. to keep an accurate headcount), Wearing a face mask covering nose/mouth, sanitize/clean hands, maintaining 6 ft distance from those not in the same household during the viewing, funeral, and outdoor ceremony.
