

James Carol Hardison, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014, in Newport News after a brief illness. He was born October 2, 1931 in Wayne County, North Carolina, son of the late Jimmy and Gertrude Hardison.
He had been a Peninsula residence since 1949. He graduated from the Apprentice School at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, where he worked for 42 years. He was an accomplished pipefitter, heating and air conditioning repairman, and an overall general handyman. He was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church in Hampton and a member of St. Tammany Lodge #5 AF&AM.
J.C. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Margaret Hardison. He is survived by his daughter, Panice Clark; grandchildren, Ashby Pope (James) and Patrick Clark; brothers, Theodore Hardison (Janice) and Donald Hardison (Faye); sisters, Jean Pierce and Frances Wiggs (Ed); “adopted” grandchildren, Robbie Laufer (Candice), Joanna Laufer, and Mallory Laufer; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of JC’s life will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
