Jean Gibbons

Jean Gibbons was called home to be with our Lord, on May 13th 2020.
She was born and raised in the town of Poquoson to John Fay and Josephine Page. She was the first of three children. After graduating from Poquoson High School. She met her Husband Dallas Gibbons of Hampton. After marrying Dallas, Jean started a family in Hampton where she would live the rest of her life. They had two sons, Johnny and Page.
Jean retired from J.C Penny Co. as a sales clerk in the Drapery Dept. She was one of the first employees when the Coliseum Mall store was opened. After retiring from J.C.Penny she worked for Boulevard Cleaners for several years.
Jean had several hobbies and passions over the years. She was a certified American Red Cross swimming instructor. She taught swimming for the American Red Cross and the YMCA. Being involved in swimming at the YMCA she also got involved with scuba diving where she attained her PADI Open Water Dive Cert.
Jean was also very proud of her flower beds which she thought were “the best”. Later in life she got into The Order of the Eastern Star where she was a member of Colonial Chapter 40. She attained the level of Worthy Matron which she was proud to serve with her son, Page, beside her as her Worthy Patron. In her last few years her biggest passion was keeping her bird feeders full and sitting on the porch watching the birds.
After a long battle with illness she passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 13, 2020. She was preceded in death by her Father, John Fay Page and her Mother, Josephine Page. As well as her husband of 52 years, Dallas C. Gibbons. She is survived by sons, Johnny and his wife, Lori and Page and his wife, Dee; four, grandchildren, Garland and Brandi Gibbons and Jennifer and Scott Jackson; nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Vic Page; sister, Jill Figuenick.
A celebration of life will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 15th at the funeral home, A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 16th with Reverend Doctor Patricia Riggs officiating.
