Jean Haynes

Jean Scott Haynes, 98 a Hampton native and resident for 90 years, died peacefully, Friday, April 12, in Herndon, Virginia.
She attended Hampton High School and graduated early in 1943 in order to work at the Port Embarkation in Newport News during World War II. After the war she worked at Ft. Monroe in Hampton and was a lifelong member of the Hampton Baptist Church.
Jean was married to Denver Lee Haynes from 1950 until his death in 1992. She is survived by daughters Beverly Vaughn (Curtis) of Herndon VA; Connie McFarland (Clyde) of Suffolk, VA and a son, Paul Haynes (Linda) of Richmond VA; as well as five grandchildren, Kimberly Williams, Amanda Vaughn, Cary Patrick, Sammy Haynes, Nikki Haynes and three great grandchildren.
A private graveside service for the family will be held.
In remembrance of Jean, donations may be made to the Hampton Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 40 Kings Way, Hampton Virginia 23669.
