

Born August 14, 1932 in Lincoln County, NC, she was a daughter of William Jonas Waters, Sr. and Ethel Viola Brown with whom she had a wonderful childhood with a lot of cousins and aunts and family reunions.
Jean attended schools in NC and Arlington, VA through the 11th grade. In 1949, the family moved to Vienna, Austria where Jean started the 12th grade. In 1950, Jean graduated at the United States Dependent Schools in Vienna Austria where she was Valedictorian; she went on to complete two years of college in Austria.
She was a loving Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Jean was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC and was attending Sunday School at First Baptist Church, Newport News. She joined the staff of NASA Langley Research Center in March of 1984 as a Team Leader in the Placement and Position Management Branch, Personnel Division where she later became head of the Branch. Prior to employment at Langley, she worked in Fort Monroe, VA and in Manheim, Germany with the Department of the Army. Jean retired in January 1988 after 30 years of Federal Service.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Marvin Kent Trueblood; brothers, W.J. Waters, Jr. and Dr. Michael G. Waters, MD; sister, Betty Joan Houser; three children, Glenn A. Decker, Sr., Laurie Ingram and Cynthia Decker.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with funeral services to begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park.
