Jeffrey was born September 6, 1969, in Newport News and lived his entire life in York County in his parent's home. From birth, Jeff's body and mind labeled him special, but we quickly learned labels were meaningless in defining the incredible and profound way that Jeffrey's coming into this world and our lives would forever change us, for the better. Knowing Jeffrey brought the best out in all of us, touching our hearts and lives in a special way. His infectious laugh and free spirited approach to everyday was a joy to experience. "To know him was to love him", and those of us privileged to share his life are the better for it in more ways than words could express. Jeffrey was never a burden, but always a blessing.
He was educated through the York County School system and supporting programs geared towards his special needs. He attended ID Day Support Program of Colonial Behavioral Health in Williamsburg where he was cared for with great professionalism and love.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cowan Muir, Alvin and Virginia Feathers; and his two uncles, Lee and Allen Feathers.
He is survived by his loving parents, Daniel and Patricia Muir, who devoted their lives to tirelessly caring for their precious gift from God; his brother, Todd Muir, who devoted his love and relationship to Jeff as an advocate, protector and friend, and Todd's wife, Magun, and their children, Sarah and Chloe; his paternal grandmother, Doris Muir; his aunts, Donna Muir, Elizabeth Buchan, Martha Owens; and cousins, Jennifer Hicks and Lisa Berg were instrumental in Jeffrey's life and care. Jeff's younger cousins, Hattie, Ben, Noah, Jacob, Elizabeth and Luke were a constant source of entertainment and fun for him. The entire Muir family is grateful for Jeffrey's wonderful extended family, neighbors and friends who have provided love and support that made his life at home possible and rich.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 21, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Parklawn Memorial Park followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jay Russ. The family will receive friends at their home after the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to ID Day Support Program of CHB, 1659 Merrimac Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave. in Hampton, 23666.
