He was a U.S. Army veteran retiring in 1971 and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class after a military career spanning over twenty years. He served in the Korean conflict and Vietnam War.
Following his retirement, he began a second career as a truck driver and worked for various companies for over twenty years including Smithfield Packing and the Mc Cleandon Company.
Preceding him in rest is his wife, Janet Faye Davis; parents, Clint and Mary Davis; siblings, Clint Davis, Jr., Marcell Davis, Sybil Franklin, Merle Miltenberger, and Mary Faye Bryan. Surviving members of his family include his children, Bonnie Jo Baker and husband Eugene, Connie A. Botkin and husband Brian, and Tracey Davis and wife Vika; grandchildren, Staff SGT. Christopher Nagel, Jacob Baker, Brian Botkin, Jr., and Abigail Faye Davis; great grandson, Jayden Nagel; sister, Angela Star and husband Ben; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating Joe’s life will be held graveside, Monday, August 4, at 1:00 PM, at Parklawn Memorial Park.
