

Bud served honorably in the U.S. Army twice during the Vietnam War and retired as Lt. Col. in 1978 after 24 years of service. He was decorated with the Vietnam Staff Service Medal (1st class), the Legion of Merit Armed Forces Medal (1st class), the Air Medal, and the Legion of Merit with 1 oak leaf cluster. He served in other capacities as well, including Past President of the Mercury Lions Club, Past President of the WV Alumni Association, President of Briarqueen Swim Team, President of Virginia Peninsula Swim Union; and President of his Neighborhood Watch Program. He was a member of Tyler Memorial Methodist Church.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Gladys Hehle, and granddaughter, Mallory Elizabeth McCune. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances "Frannie" Hehle; daughters, Eve Hehle of Norfolk, and Sally McCune of St. Marys, WV; and grandchildren, Ashleigh McCune Bonner and husband Shawn, and Christopher McCune.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Bud's life will be held Thursday, April 7, at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Saturday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. in Parsons Cemetery, in Parsons, WV. Lohr Barb Funeral Home is handling service arrangements in Parsons.
