Judith "Judy" M. Bonney

Judith M. Bonney (Judy), 86, passed away on February 21, 2025 at Atrium Hospital Union in Monroe, NC surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born in 1938 in Bridgeport, CT, and had been a resident of Virginia since 1972.

Judy was a devoted housewife and mother. Judy graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School - Fairfield, CT in 1956. She was employed with the Hampton City Schools Library Processing Center - Hampton, VA for many years from which she retired in 1996.

More than anything she so dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Judy enjoyed traveling, playing golf, bridge, and bingo. She was quite the social butterfly and was thrilled when she had visits from friends. Judy had an infectious laugh that would absolutely energize the room! Her smile has warmed the hearts of many.

She is survived by her children, Debby Lynch, George H. Bonney, Jr.-Hank (Janet), Laurie Underwood, Brenda Starek (David), and a sister-In-law, Ginni McGrath of Indialantic, FL. Judy was blessed with 10 Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Judy was predeceased by her husband, George H. Bonney (Norwich class of '58); daughter, Cynthia Wilkins; and parents, Carl T. and Edith T. Miller.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA on Friday, February 2, 2025. A Traditional Latin Requiem Funeral Mass will be held at St. Benedict's Parish Church, 521 McCosh Dr., Chesapeake, VA at 10:00am on Saturday, March 1, 2025. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Norwich University Cemetery, Northfield, VT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics Wayne County, 2102 Granville Dr., Goldboro, NC. 27530. Donations should include the name of Christopher Underwood, who has greatly benefited from these Special Olympics, or to Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD. 21741.
