Linda was born on November 20, 1951, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Joseph David Bowers and Audrey Theresa Rossner Bowers. She graduated from Northwestern High School, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Arthur Large.
As a proud Air Force wife, Linda spent decades traveling the world with her husband and two children, Tammy and Joe, collecting tea sets from across the globe and entertaining friends and family everywhere they lived.
After decades of traveling, Linda and Ron settled in Hampton, Virginia. Above all, Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She treasured time with those she loved and continued to travel to explore new places and celebrate countless birthdays, baptisms, graduations, and weddings. Linda lived with a steadfast faith that shaped and guided her throughout her life.
Linda is survived by her children, Tammy Chastain (Ben) and Joe (Barbara); grandchildren Candice Chastain-Stubenrauch, Caitlyn Crosby (Weston), Andrew Chastain, Trevor Chastain (Amanda), Sarah, Shyanne, Leigha, and Eli; great-grandchildren Lillie, Lydia, Lyam, Loralei, Weston, Harper, Jackson, Natalie, and Caden.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Ronald Arthur Large, parents, Joseph David Bowers and Audrey Theresa Rossner Bowers, stepmother, Elsie Bowers, and brother, Craig Allen Bowers.
The family would like to recognize Linda’s many treasured friends who, though not related by blood, were family in every way that mattered and who brought love, laughter, and lasting joy into her life.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, VA, with reception to follow at 2:00 p.m. and interment at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a nonprofit pediatric hospital close to Linda’s heart that provides care to several of her great-grandchildren.
While she is deeply missed, the family takes comfort in knowing she now rests in the arms of the Lord, rejoicing in His eternal presence.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
