Lisa Marie Gibson

Lisa Marie Gibson, 51, of Newport News, Virginia passed away on December 13th, 2025. She was born January 10th, 1974 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Mary McGibbon Gibson and adopted by her father Leighton (Scott) Gibson.

Lisa grew up in Newport News and Hampton, VA. Throughout school she enjoyed participating in sports and drama. After graduating from Ferguson High School, she continued her education and ultimately worked in the restaurant industry where she made many lifelong friends. She was generous, loyal and cherished her friendships. Lisa was a compassionate listener who helped her friends through hard times and shared joy in happy times. She especially enjoyed being a pet owner and was devoted to her dogs and cats.

Lisa is predeceased by her mother Mary M. Gibson, father Leighton Scott Gibson, and her grandparents Robert and Doreen McGibbon. She is survived by her uncle Douglas E. McGibbon (Ann), cousins Melissa M. Moore (Shawn), and Scott D. McGibbon.

The family would like to thank Lisa’s dearest friends Kathy Hess, Ty Burke, Shawn Cole for their steadfast support and love. Thank you also to the many other friends who supported her along the way.

Our gratitude and love to James (Jim) R. Knight for the many years of unconditional love and caretaking. Lisa cherished you.

Thank you for the compassionate care offered by the medical professionals at Riverside Regional Medical Center. During the months Lisa spent at Riverside she was treated with kindness, patience and excellent care.

Her funeral will be Friday, January 16th, 2026 at 3 PM at Parklawn-Wood Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. It will be an informal gathering at her niche at the columbarium wall adjacent to the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185.
