She was born on February 27, 1929 in Carthage, NC to Shula Lewis Garner and Hughie Lineberry Garner. She was the second of ten children and the eldest daughter. In 1953 she and her husband, Bob, moved to Newport News to start a wonderful life journey. Mabel worked for Eleanor Shop for 25 years.
Mabel was a faithful member of West Hampton Baptist Church for 59 years and dearly loved her church family. Mostly, she loved her precious savior, Jesus and sincerely lived her life to glorify Him. She never found fault in anyone and her love was unconditional. She was the mother and grandmother everyone should have and we are so humbled and thankful that God chose her for us. Great was her faithfulness, an inheritance she instilled in her family. Her great joy in life was growing beautiful flowers. Her flowers have always been a testament to the beauty of God’s creation. Another joy in her life was her card ministry which helped spread joy to others. The family is grateful to everyone who touched her life along her journey.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Robert Lewis Daniel and sons-in-law, Jim Daunheimer and Michael Ferrell. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Daunheimer and Donna Ferrell; grandchildren, Hugh, Max, and Haley Ferrell; sisters, Alma Sharpe and Judy Dudley (Dan); brothers, James Garner (Nell), Darrell Garner (Bonnie), Larry Garner (Betty), and Robert Garner (Sybil), sister-in-law, Jean Garner; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, all of North Carolina.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
