Mattie Ruth Deloatch

Mattie Ruth Ward Deloatch (88) was born September 29, 1933 to the late Andrew and Mattie Ward. She departed this life on January 10, 2021, at Consulate Health Care Center, Norfolk Virginia. Mattie Ruth was born and raised in Pitt Country where she attended the public school system. She later moved to Hampton, Virginia where she worked many years in Domestic Services until her health begin to fail her and she retired from the workforce. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, and restoring antique furniture. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Pitt County, North Carolina. She attended several churches in the Hampton and Newport News area. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. In 2016, because of failing health, Mattie Ruth became a resident of Consulate Health Care of Norfolk, Virginia. There she remained until God called her home to be with Him. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mattie Ward; four brothers, Andrew, David, Jimmy, and Arthur Ward; and three sisters, Rebecca Ward, Susie Streeter, and Mary Deloatch. She leaves to cherish her memory her caretakers, Lee Deloatch Jr. (nephew) of Hampton, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
