Obituary of Opal Kincaid Carr-Cartwright
Opal Aline Kincaid Cartwright, cherished wife and mother, left mortality and entered her heavenly home on December 27, 2023. Opal was born on April 10, 1935, in Hot Springs, Bath County, Virginia. She was the beloved daughter of Kenton Russell Kincaid and Ressie Suddreth William Kincaid, and sister of Kenton (Ella) Kincaid, Roy (Frances) Kincaid, and Amelia (Anthony) Kincaid Muller. The passing of her parents and siblings preceded her along with the passing of her daughter, Brenda Alline Carr McCracken. Opal’s life was brightened by her marriage to Elwood Vernon Cartwright on September 18, 2023, in Newport News, Virginia. Their marriage brought great joy to both Vernon and Opal as they laughed together, explored new places, and enjoyed the title of “recycled teenagers”. Opal was a long term resident of Newport News. Features of her life including working in the Bank Industry, Traveling, and Shopping. Opal had a deep love for Jesus Christ and actively attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A public visitation for Opal will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A celebration of life, officiated by Joshua Woodruff, Bishop of the Newport News, First Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, will occur Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. An interment to follow the service will occur at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
