

Philip’s siblings were John Paul Redman, Jr., Violet Mae Redman Badders (Bill), Sherlock Hilliard Redman (Lena), Milton Scott Redman (Dorothy), Neoma Redman Lawson (Jessie), Lena Maxine Redman Wilcox (Earl), and Enid Frances Redman Hopper (W. H.). Philip had many nieces and nephews to include Ronald, Douglas, Thomas, Shirley, Bruce, Anne, Carrie, Eunice, Carole, George (Biff), Henry, Donald, Christine, Susan, and Sam.
Philip was born in Newport News and graduated from Warwick High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving four years as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, earned a Bachelor's degree in Art from RPI and a Master's degree from Virginia College of Lynchburg. Phil taught art and industrial arts in the Richmond, VA area for 30 years. After retiring, he returned to Newport News and married his one and only sweetheart, Anne.
Philip was a master boat model craftsman and a member of Mariner's Museum for many years. He enjoyed construction and remodeling projects, traveling, especially on cruises, and being at church services and events, including "home group."
Philip is survived by his wife of 16 years, Anne Wheeler Redman; many nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Stephen Wheeler (Donna), Kim Spano (Ron), and Matthew Wheeler (Ronda); many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be sent to New Covenant Church, 1079 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Va 23666.
A Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Peninsula Memorial Park’s mausoleum, 12750 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Va 23606. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
