Ramon Santiago-Roque

A long-time resident of James City County, Ramon Santiago-Roque passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at the Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, Sun City West, AZ.
He was born June 19, 1923, in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. He joined the U.S. Army in October 1943. Ramon served 20 years in the U.S. Army retiring to James City County in November 1963. He received the Purple Heart and Silver Star during the Korean War. He was assigned to security duty in Ecuador, South America during WWII.
It was in Ecuador that he met and married the love of his life Ana M. Santiago-Sanchez. They were married sixty-seven years before Ana preceded him in death in 2012.
He is survived by his son, Ramon M. Santiago of Brunswick, GA; his daughter, Rosa M. Allen of Waddell, AZ; nine grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was residing in Waddell, AZ at the time of his passing. He provided a strong foundation for his family and he will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Ramon’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 14 at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 14 at the funeral home.
