Richard I. Sears, 93, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday night with family members at his side. A native of West Newton, MA, he raised his family in Hampton, VA, Lexington and Concord, MA, before retiring for many years to Gifford, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee. An Aeronautical engineer from MIT, Richard performed Aeronautical research and design at NACA Langley Research Center and at Raytheon Missiles Systems Division in Bedford, MA. Among his many interests and activities he most loved sailing, flying and swimming. Predeceased by his wife, Anna, Richard is survived by three siblings, two sons, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Hampton, VA on Monday, January 10th at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following his wishes, the family requests that any donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org
