Robert J. Hughson

Robert was born in Ahoskie, N. C. and was a graduate of Ahoskie High School Class of 1948. In 1949 he graduated from Louisburg College with an Accounting Certificate. Robert was in the U. S. Air Force and retired as a T/Sgt in 1973 with 20 years of service. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Other military assignments included Okinawa, Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. He was the recipient of numerous awards during his time of service to his country. After retirement from the military, Robert worked for the State of Virginia for 3 years and then he was employed by Old Point National Bank for 17 years, retiring in 1993.

Robert is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lucille; two children, Robert A. Hughson (Suzanne) and Debbie Beam (Larry); two grandchildren, Christy Greene (Tony) and Christopher Greene (Jennifer); five great grandchildren, Taylor, Jenna, Anthony, Harper and Adalyn; two brothers, Eugene (Edith) and John (Judy) and one sister, Betty (Bob). He was preceded in death by his parents C.C. and Nancy Hughson of Ahoskie, N.C.

Robert has been an active member of the Fox Hill Road Baptist Church for over 30 years, serving on numerous committees.

Donations can be made to the Fox Hill Road Baptist Church Loan Fund.

Services will be held by Pastor Will Cornett at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23666 at 2:00pm on the 12th of June. A visitation will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home from 1:00pm – 2:00pm before the service.
