

Shirley Schultz, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. She was a native of New York, New York, and had lived at Chambrel in Williamsburg for the past five years.
She was a graduate of Hunter College and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education. Her long teaching career was spent instructing elementary school students in Manhattan (PS-51). After retirement she relocated to Florida and then to Virginia.
She was a member of the United Federation of Teachers, the Organization for Rehabilitation through Training (ORT), and the B’nai Brith. Her interests and hobbies included being an avid reader, playing Bridge, traveling extensively, and enjoying theater and performing arts especially Broadway.
Surviving members of her family include her sons, David Schultz and his wife Lieu, and Dr. Roger E. Schultz and wife Dr. Beth Scharlop; grandchildren, Alison Schultz and Samuel Schultz.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Beth El of Williamsburg. The family will be sitting Shiva Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 p.m. at the home of Dr. Roger Schultz.
