Steven F. Yaros, son of Marie and Steve Yaros, Sr., left this world on September 27, 2018 eleven days before his 77th birthday. Steve was born in Perth Amboy, N.J. and raised in Rahway, N.J. After graduation, he became an avid supporter of Rahway High School throughout his life. He was awarded three additional degrees – BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master's from Perdue University, and a doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Tennessee. His real interest, however, was in his love of classical music. This is shown today through the performances of our church choir and the church wind ensemble. A close second to music was his interest in gardening – especially in growing tomatoes.
Steve is survived by his wife of almost 30 yrs. - Pat Yaros, whom he met at a Mensa meeting. Steve served in many positions in Mensa, including Proctor, Activities Chair, and President of the local group. He was recently presented a Distinguished Service Award from Mensa. Other survivors include his step-daughters Celeste Auvil and Yvette Cahill, their husbands – Michael Auvil and Brian Cahill, his grandson Robert Cahill, a cousin – Joan Gadek, aunts Stelle Gadek and Jeanette Diakun, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and other progeny on his wife's side. Steve was a part of the research team at NASA Langley Research Center, working at one point on a 'black box' (secret government) project. After retiring, he taught and performed administrative duties at Embry-Riddle University. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Peninsula 13136 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23602 where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:30 am.
