Wayne Harold Gaines

Wayne Harold Gaines of Yorktown, Virginia passed away on April 28, 2021. Wayne was born September 19, 1934 in Bridgeboro, Georgia. He grew up in Georgia and in 1954 he joined the United States Airforce. He was a Vietnam & Korean War Veteran, retiring after a successful 30 year career where he was best known as "Chief Gaines". Wayne was a manager at Flight International for many years after retiring from the U.S.A.F. He was an Elk's club member and an avid golfer in his younger years. Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ruby Gaines; siblings, Elise, Dorothy, Roy, Clyde Jr., Mac, Para and his son, Dale Wayne Gaines. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; son, Gary; and daughter-in-laws, Paula and Sharon Gaines; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other family members. He is loved and forever in our hearts. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA, 23666.
