

He was employed by the Newport News Ship Building & Dry Dock Co. from 1961 to 1999. He worked as a pipefitter, material person for piping systems, production planner for piping systems, forman in piping systems, and warehouse material forman for new construction carriers. He then went to work for Langley Federal Credit Union delivering mail and supplies to all branch offices on the Peninsula, Gloucester, Williamsburg and Southside.
He enjoyed traveling and visiting everyone on his route, including Jean Yokum to talk about their grandchildren. He attended Providence Mennonite Church. He loved camping and attending bluegrass festivals in his 37' motorhome.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Carol Stiffler, daughter Kristine, son James, and six grandchildren (Zachary, Angie, Amanda, Madison, Samantha, and Lexi) and many great-grandchildren. Their first child died in 1963 at 6 months old.
A visitation for Wayne will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A celebration of life service will occur Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. An interment to follow the service will occur Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
A reception will follow the service. All are welcome.
