Alice Reenders

Alice (Aaltje Jantiena Ryzebol) was born April 9, 1927 in Uithuizermeeden, Groningen, Netherlands to Henry and Greta Ryzebol. She was the second of nine children. At 10 months of age her family immigrated to Canada, living first in Chatham, Ontario, then Saskatchewan and finally in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she met and married her husband Cornelis (Case) Reenders on April 23, 1948. In 1964 Case and Alice moved their family to Ontario California where they made their home for over 40 years. In 2004 they moved to Hanford to be near their family.

Alice is remembered for her strong faith, her adventurous spirit, her thankfulness and positive attitude, lovely signing voice, dedication to her family, hospitality to friends and strangers, and her love of roses. Her comfort in life and the comfort of her family in her death is that she belongs to her faithful Savior Jesus Christ. One of her favorite verses was Romans 8:28 “All things work together for good for those who love God.”

Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Case Reenders (9-30-2008), her sister Aafke Koning, in-laws Case Koning, George Harris, John Toringa, Elsie Bolt and Ray Themmen. She is survived by her siblings, Brant (Eva) Ryzebol,Ina Harris, John (Rita)Ryzebol, Henry (Tena) Ryzebol, Margaret Toringa, Peter (Ann) Ryzebol, Nettie (Don) Douma and in-laws Pearl Stoter, Bob Bolt, Minnie Themmen and George (Lois) Reenders.

She will be greatly missed by her children Garry (Nancy), Marv (Elaine), Linda, Brad (Judy), and Darin (Wendy), 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2015 11am – 2 pm at People’s Funeral Chapel in Hanford. Graveside service will be Monday, January 12 at 9:30 at the Hanford Cemetery. A Memorial service will follow at First Christian Reformed Church of Hanford at 10:30.

Remembrances may be made to Hanford Christian School Endowment Fund in lieu of flowers.
