Claudia Louise Sheldon

Hanford resident Claudia Louise Sheldon, 78, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in Hanford.

Claudia was born on March 15, 1936 in Victorville, California. She graduated from Hanford High School in 1954 and then furthered her education at College of the Sequoias. Before marrying the love of her life, Richard Sheldon, on June 7, 1957, she spent her days doing secretarial work for the county. Her and Richard (Dick) met at the Laton swimming pool in 1955 and were inseparable until his death in 2013. After marrying Dick, she continued working until the birth of her first child, Randy, in 1959. Claudia then took on the role of stay-at-home mom as her family grew with the additions of Danny and Linda. Once her children were grown and in school, she began her long career as a teacher’s aide in the special education department, with a majority of her career being spent at Shelly Baird in Hanford. Claudia retired in the early 90’s and when she wasn’t babysitting her 8 grandchildren, she spent her time volunteering for Hospice. Claudia was a huge fan of hosting parties on her patio and cooking delicious meals for her family. She loved watching The Food Network and trying out new recipes full of butter and love. She spent her afternoons enjoying her beautiful yard while sitting on the patio with her adoring husband and a glass of wine. She also loved to play Pinochle, watch Soap Operas and support her grandchildren in all of their activities and hobbies. A loving woman with a feisty personality and a huge heart, Claudia was a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen and a body for warm hugs. She was the matriarch of her family and supported and loved them more than words can express. She will be greatly missed and forever in our memories.

Claudia is survived by her two sons, Randy Sheldon and his wife Loraine of Laton and Danny Sheldon and his wife Jennifer of Hanford; one daughter, Linda Myers and her husband Rick of Laton; eight grandchildren, Mariel Neilson and her husband Caleb, Miles and Ellis Sheldon, Kent and Kassidy Sheldon, Lacee, Travis, and Trent Myers; and a great-grand daughter, Quinn Neilson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard (Dick) Sheldon and her mother, Marie Hefton.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Kings River Cemetery; 10499 Dover Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937 with a reception to follow at the Laton Lions Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Adventist Health Home Care & Hospice; 460 Kings County Drive, Suite 105, Hanford, CA 93230.
