They had five children, four boys and one girl. Their first son died shortly after birth. Ethel is survived by her children; William Joe Delk of Oroville, Washington, Roberta Cargill of Missoula, Montana, and Curtis Roy Delk of Henryetta, Oklahoma. Her son Larry Ray Delk passed away on September 17, 2010. Larry’s wife Deborah Delk resides in the family home in Clovis, California. Ethel has ten grandchildren: Marty Delk, Mike Delk, Matthew Delk, Marc Cargill, Michelle Oakland, Kevin Delk, Scott Delk, Tricia Delk, Marsha Gomez, and Bryan Delk, 27 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Ethel and Becher moved to Laton, California in 1956. They lived on the Houghton Ranch on East Harlan until Becher retired in 1980. Upon his retirement, they moved to their newly acquired home on East Harlan Avenue. Ethel attended the Pentecostal Church of God for most of 50 years: 1958-2007.
She was very active as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, working in the ladies ministry, and even preaching on occasion. Her handmade quilts were a welcome item at the traditional Lady’s Christmas Boutique. Local favorites were her handmade Coconut Cookies, Coconut Cream pies, and Fried Apple pies.
Many lives of people in the community were positively influenced by her touch. She was diligent to visit shut-ins and pray for the sick. She loved her church in Laton and hated leaving it when her husband passed away in 2007, but being unable to stay in the family home, she relocated to Whidbey Island, Washington to live near her daughter.
In 2011, she moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Missoula, Montana. She passed away at the family home in Florence, Montana on October 25, 2012.
