Jan was the second of four children born to Henry and Geneva Hansen in Hanford on January 27, 1950. She attended Lakeside Elementary and graduated from Hanford High in 1968. While in high school she made many life long friends. After graduating, Jan spent a year in Germany as a foreign exchange student. After returning to Hanford she met Jim LaMattino. Jan and Jim enjoyed hitch hiking and traveling throughout America, Canada, and Europe. They spent several years in Europe in the early seventies and returned to the States, were married, and purchased a home in Hanford. Jan had twins, Aniah and Brandon, in 1977 and started working at the Chinese Pagoda/Imperial Dynasty as a waitress. She also took an interest in interior decorating and started painting and wall papering. In 1986 her third child Ashley was born. Jan continued to be self employed interior decorating and working at the dynasty until it closed. Jan was very involved over the last 15 years with several personal growth and recovery groups at Koinonia Christian fellowship. In 2003 she became Grandma Jan. She devoted at least one day a week to being grandma, doing everything from gardening to painting with the grandkids. Jan was diagnosed with cancer in early 2010 and embraced the fact she was starting her eternal journey. Through all of her sickness and pain, she was still the most positive and optimistic sister, mother, grandmother, and friend a loved one could ever imagine. Jan touched the lives of all that were fortunate enough to meet her and some that never did. She will be greatly missed.
Jan is survived by her ex-husband, Jim and his wife Lynn LaMattino; daughter, Aniah and husband Bob Sweeny; son, Brandon and wife Tracey LaMattino; daughter, Ashley and husband Kellen Perlberg; grandchildren, Corbin, Sophia, and Tyler LaMattino; brother, Hal and wife Carol Hansen; sister, Barbara and husband Tom Grubb; sister, Karen Lopez; niece, Jamie and husband Drew Arevalo; nephew, Gabe and wife Kristen Lopez; nephew, Landon Grubb; and dear friends Sue and Marylou.
Jan was preceded in death by both of her parents, Henry and Geneva Hansen and brother in law, John Lopez.
