Loretta grew up in Wisconsin, graduating from Beloit Memorial high school in 1952. She went to cosmetology school in Madison, Wisconsin and then married Richard Lusby in 1957. They went on to settle in Hanford, California in 1963. They had four daughters Tammy Tosh, Tracey Avila (Tony), Kelly Silva (Damon), and Tory Brandt (David).
She spent her time volunteering at the girls' school, running around for her daughters with things like rodeos, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, and swim. For herself, she was active in tennis and bowling leagues. She enjoyed playing bridge and gardening. She was the founding member of the Hanford Garden Club and a member of the Tea Party Patriots and Republican Women. Loretta and Richard enjoyed traveling with friends and continued to attend grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events.
She will be remembered for her honesty and her hostess abilities. Loretta was preceded in death by her mother Lucille Whitaker, her father Dewey Markley, sister Delores Lorenz, and daughter Tammy Lusby Tosh.
She is survived by her husband Richard Lusby of Hanford, California, brother Kenneth Markley of Wisconsin, three daughters: Tracey Avila (Tony) of Lemoore, CA, Kelly Silva (Damon) of Visalia, CA, and Tory Brandt (David) of Whitefish, MT, seven grandchildren: Brynn, Deidre, Beau, Markley, Blake, Jack Henry, and Hayden as well as ten great grandchildren Jayce, Karlee, Payton, Benjamin, Max, Ty, Aras, Valentino, Savii, and Taegan.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19th at 11 am at Hanford First Baptist Church on 9125 13 1/2 Ave, Hanford, CA 93230. A Celebration of Life luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church.
