Margaret Rose McKaskle (Haas), 68, of Hanford, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 3, 2023. Margaret had been dealing with a lot of health issues for many years, and this was just one too many.
Margaret was born to Walter and Fukuko (Peggy) Haas on January 31, 1955, in Zama, Japan, where her father was stationed while serving in the US Navy.
After living in New Jersey, Florida, Virginia, NAS Lemoore, and Japan, her family came back to California to settle in Hanford. While young, Margaret was always reading or hanging out with her friends.
Margaret’s jobs were always geared to helping others. Her first job was babysitting, in which she always tried do more than just sit. While at Hanford High, she worked in the school snack bar, then while in college at UCSD she worked at a department store and upon returning home she worked at Sears. Margaret wanted to be a teacher for Special Needs students and got a job at the Kings Rehabilitation Center and cared for the clients there. She even learned American Sign Language to communicate with the people in her care. Margaret later worked for many years with the IRS in Fresno and would always volunteer to help anyone with their taxes. After leaving the IRS, Margaret’s last job before retiring was at Target. Everywhere Margaret worked she made friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband of thirty years Dennis McKaskle, parents Walter and Fukuko (Peggy) Haas, son Kenneth Haas and wife Kristina, grandsons Kalob Haas, Walter Haas, Brandon Adcox, and Travis Cook, siblings Stephen Haas, Annette Gonzales (Michael), and Kathleen Mkaabari, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Margaret was preceded in death by her grandparents Victor and Elsa Haas and Seiji and Umiko Hatayama, and niece Misha Gonzales.
There will be no services or visitations per Margaret’s wishes, however, at a future date Margaret will be laid to rest in the Pacific Ocean by Dennis, her loving husband, and a small gathering of family and friends. Please remember Margaret for her stories, and infectious laugh.
