

Marjorie was born to Claude & Vonna Ella (Coats) Throckmorton on December 2, 1942 at Prosser Memorial Hospital in Prosser, Washington where she was raised. Marjorie was an only child. While growing up Marjorie participated in Campfire Girls, playing the piano and then the clarinet during Jr. High and High School. She graduated from Prosser High School in 1961. Some of her favorite courses were English and History class but Library class most of all. Her favorite teacher was her History teacher; Mr. Newbill. Later Marjorie went on to graduate and earn her AS degree from Spokane Falls Community College in 1991. While attending she maintained her position on the Dean’s List for the summer quarter in 1986 at Yakima Valley Community College. Her favorite course in college was also Library Science and her favorite professor was Sue. She truly enjoyed volunteering at the school’s library. Marjorie received a Certificate of Achievement from Yakima Valley Community College in the summer of 1986. She always had a lot of friends while growing up and throughout all of her education. She attended her 40 year class reunion and too much surprise still had many friends! She reunited with an old friend from her past; Howard Green who had worked for her father in his barber shop. They went on to reconnect and later married in 2000. He was a very nice guy… Marjorie had loved Howard for 46 years until his passing Easter of 2005 from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Later that year Marjorie and Gary Hill married on October 15, 2005 after a very long time friendship. They have been best friends and companions ever since. They were married at the First United Methodist Church of Hanford, California. Marjorie had four beautiful children; Rick French, Todd French, Mike French and CaSandra Anderson. She also has five wonderful grandchildren; Jamie Mehrer, Nick French, Kirsten French, Steven Anderson and Alyssa French with two precious great-grandchildren; Ryker French and Autumn French. Marjorie worked most of her life as a Librarian. She had worked for Corcoran State Prison #2 for the last 9 years of her career before retiring in 2007.
Some of Marjorie’s hobbies and life’s passions were; crocheting and reading. She was an avid reader and loved to write stories. She enjoyed music and playing the piano during the Christmas Holiday Season for her family. When she had extra time she also liked to play Solitary on her computer. She also took pleasure in gardening, especially growing her tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, yellow sweet peppers and bell peppers and her rose bushes in her front yard. She liked sports but mostly enjoyed watching the XXX Summer Olympics 2012 opening ceremony. She thoroughly liked watching the Westminster Dog Shows, The Young and the Restless, FOX News Channel and The Bill O’Reilly Show very, very much. Marjorie also really enjoyed dancing and especially watching the show “Dancing with the Stars”. Marjorie had been a member of FHA, Library Club and St. Brigid Catholic Church of Hanford since 2008. Marjorie always helped others, she once went to her grandson, Steven’s band teacher’s gatherings to discuss how to generate funds for their events. She also attended Bible Study at St. Brigid Catholic Church. She also traveled on trips with the church when she could. The last time she was able to go was in the summer of 2011. Marjorie loved to travel. She took a road trip from Washington to Vero Beach, Florida and managed a boarding house of college kids, flight students, all adults, any age more or less that needed to rent a room. Back in 1983 for a year she and Cassandra and her cat, Boom Boom, who sat on the dash continued that trip.
Marjorie’s favorite pets were Bandit, who she has had since June 2005, and Betty since November 2005, her little Pug Dogs. She also had her cat Boom Boom in 1983. As a child she had her dog, Patsy.
Marjorie was loved by all and will be dearly missed by many... She was very well liked and loved!
Marjorie went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2012 at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California after a sudden passing of a stroke in her brain stem.
Marjorie is survived by her beloved husband; Gary E. Hill, her three sons; Mike, Rick (Melissa) and Todd French and her daughter; CaSandra Anderson. She also leaves behind her five wonderful grandchildren; Jamie (Jim) Mehrer, Nick (Kayla) French, Kirsten French, Steven Anderson and Alyssa French with two precious great-grandchildren; Ryker French and Autumn French. Gary’s daughter; Diane Spradlin and her husband; Ryan will also miss her. Gary’s grandchildren were very close to Marjorie; Joshua Wells, Amanda Wells and Emily Spradlin and a great-granddaughter; from his grandson; Joshua Wells. Marjorie will also be missed by Gary’s sister; Jeanie Brock and her husband Fred along with her family; Justin, Jennifer, Corey and Richard and their many grandchildren.
A Rosary and Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church; 1000 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-2533. A Private Inurnment will take place at a later date.
