Nolan Matthew Eggert was born April 10, 1999 to Kenneth and Stephanie Eggert. The Eggert Family chose to remain in Hanford where they all were born. It was important to them that their sons would benefit from being raised near their large loving family in this small community. Nolan attended Pioneer schools from preschool to seventh grade. In the beginning school did not come easy for him but he never gave up becoming an honor student. He had amazing teachers who saw his potential early. It was easy to be proud of Nolan. For his eighth grade year he transferred to Woodrow Wilson where his dad is principal and in hindsight was a gift of extra time for father and son. Nolan was currently a 10th grader at Sierra Pacific High School where he was involved in ASB, boys’ water polo, and the golf team. He just loved to be around people and accepted people for who they were.
From the beginning, Nolan was an easy carefree child to parent. He worked hard at everything he did. He loved playing outside and was determined to search for critters. You always had to make sure his pockets were not filled with them as he’d come back into the house. His favorite was to trap lizards to hold and play with them. Nolan was taught to hunt and fish by his father at an early age which only strengthened his love of the outdoors. He was always on the ready to go to Lake Edison with his dad, brother, and other family and friends. The Eggert’s favorite annual vacation spot was a family beach house on the Oregon Coast. He would build dams, castles, and forts on the beach and became quite proficient at clamming, crabbing, and fishing. The Eggert family shared this special place with many close friends. And each would be in awe of both his and his brother’s respectful natures.
Nolan is preceded by his great-grandparents Howard & Virginia Eggert, Don & Lou Bertram, Donald Sisson and Jay & Bonnie Ables.
He is survived by his parents and his big brother Martin. His great-grandmother Arlene Sisson and grandparents: Howard and Marlys Eggert, Mark and Brenda Bingaman, John and Becky Bertram. His Aunts and Uncles: Korin Bingaman, Kathi and Lou Cameron, Kristan and Tom Adams, Jennifer and Tom Doyel. His close cousins: Lucas Cameron, Kelsey Grego, Kaitlin Grego, Kyle Grego, Joshua Adams, Jeremy Adams, Jason Adams, Justin Adams, Aaron Doyel, Evan Doyel, and Darryl-Lynn Beeler; as well as an extended support of close friends who are like family but are too many to name.
Nolan’s life was only a short 16 years but he had a blessed one. This tragedy has made his loving personality evident by the outpouring of community messages and is helping his family grieve the loss by the many stories shared about his smile, his ability to make others feel happy, and his willingness to be anyone’s friend.
Nolan’s Celebration of Life Service is Saturday, September 5th at 10:00 a.m. at Hanford First Baptist Church; 9125 13 ½ Avenue, Hanford, CA where he was baptized in 2009 and chose the song “Lord I Lift Your Name on High”. The verse he chose that Easter Sunday was Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ.” His parents want everyone to remember Hanford, the world even, would be a better place if we are a friend like Nolan.
