Raymond Anthony Forte passed away at the age of 58 on January 5, 2021 in Merced, CA. He was born to John J. and LaVerne Forte on October 2, 1962 in Los Banos, CA. Ray grew up in Los Banos and graduated from Los Banos High School in 1981. Ray devoted over 30 years working for Turner Island Water District on the Wolfsen Ranches out of Los Banos, CA.
Ray was a quiet, reserved man by nature. He enjoyed the solitude and focus of hunting, usually joined by his sons and friends. He preferred hunting deer and geese, though if he came across the path of a
coyote he would track him down, too.
When on the softball field, though, Ray was competitive. He always wore his baseball pants, baseball cap and cleats and was ready to win. He snagged liners down the third base line and coached bases
like he was playing in the World Series. He played league in Los Banos, Dos Palos, Merced, Atwater and tournaments throughout California. He loved being on the field.
Ray found peace on his Harley. He enjoyed cruising with his riding friends, many of whom became like family.
Ray was a pillar for everyone in his life. He was reliable, dependable and consistent in his love, support and presence. He was a man of little words, though his expression said a lot. When he did speak, his words meant something.
Ray is survived by his wife Debbie Forte. Sons Christopher and Cody (Veronica). Step-children Danica, Elias (Alyssa) and Samuel. Grandchildren Zoey and Xander, Mariana and Colin, and Kaylee. Mother LaVerne Forte. Siblings David (Leah) Forte, Dan (Sandra) Forte and Yvette (Philip) Rosedale. Nieces and nephews Elizabeth Forte, Kristen (Chris) Perkins, Amanda (Anthony) Mercer; Daniel (Kara) Forte and Marc Forte; and August, Cecilia, Orion and Capri Rosedale.
He is preceded in death by his father John J. Forte.
A Funeral Mass for Raymond will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 1621 Center Avenue, Los Banos, California with the Committal Service to follow at the Los Banos Cemetery.
