Richard Lloyd Ellis

Richard Lloyd Ellis of Hanford passed away on October 15, 2015 Hanford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was born to Fred and Mertle Ellis on March 28, 1930 in Crescent City, California.

Richard or Dick, as his friends called him, leaves behind his third wife Patricia Ellis of Hanford.

He is preceded in death by his second wife Janice Ellis, his first wife Vivian Ormonde Ellis, a brother David Ellis and a sister Harriet DiMuccio.

Surviving family members include a daughter; Sondra & son-in-law Fred Koelewyn of Hanford and a son; Richard Ellis of Hanford as well as two grandsons; Joshua Koelewyn & wife Cynthia of Altadena, CA and Kristopher Koelewyn and wife Christa of Fremont, CA and two great- grandsons; one year old twins of Joshua and Cynthia, Jace and Jackson Koelewyn.

His life's work consisted of many occupations, some of which were; carpenter, cotton trailer hauler, big rig truck driver and liquor stores owner, restaurant owner and operator, furniture store owner, bail bondsman, bartender and bars owner. His family thought of him as a jack of all trades, in that he tried anything and succeeded at all.

He enjoyed family events and was a fun teaser to everyone. He belonged to the Elks Club, enjoyed the boating club early on and later in life enjoyed RVing in his motorhome.

He loved living at Morro Bay for several years and longed to return. His son Richard said his dad loved the sound of rain on a tin roof, something the rest of us didn't know.

He was a businessman and landlord, owning several buildings in downtown Hanford. He will be missed by many.

The family regrets no formal services will be held. He was laid to rest on October 29, 2015 at Calvary Cemetery privately.
