Born on February 25, 1943, in Loma Linda, California, Steven spent most of his life in Lemoore, where he built a life grounded in service, love, and quiet joys. At just 17 years old, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Navy on March 1, 1960. He retired with honor on August 30, 1980, after 20 years of faithful service.
Steven found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—fishing on calm mornings, tending to his garden, and most famously, making homemade ice cream from the boysenberries he lovingly grew. His family will forever cherish the memories of him playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, laughter filling the air as he shared his stories, his garden, and his heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Drew; his daughter, Karen Russell (Jay); his two granddaughters Morgan Thompson and Lacey Ramirez (Nicholas); his four great-grandchildren Drew and James Thompson, and Apollo and Callie Ramirez. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Tekavec of Pueblo, Colorado and his sister-in-law, Maureen Drew. His legacy of kindness, service, and family devotion lives on in each of them.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Fisher; his father, Emmett Drew; his stepfather, Art Fisher; and his brother, Russell Drew.
Steven’s presence was a steady and comforting one—he was a man who led with quiet strength and generous love. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
